The police today arrested patwari Jagjit Singh and Raja Singh in the case of suicide by a farmer outside the patwarkhana at Sema village eight days ago.
A third accused Tarlochan Singh had already been arrested and is now in judicial custody.
Following the arrest of all accused, the family of farmer Jaswant Singh, who took his life, cremated the body after eight days today.
A police party from Nathana led by ASI Jaidev Singh arrested Jagjit and Raja from the Talwandi Sabo bus stand following a tip-off.
SSP Navin Singla said that with the arrest of all accused the protesters led by the BKU had also dispersed. SHO Angrej Singh said that both the accused will be presented to court tomorrow.
Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) Shingara Singh Mann told that since the police have arrested all the accused we have calledoff our agitation.
Our delegation will the DC tomorrow to take up other demands like Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family of the deceased, government service to one family member, waiving off the debt and a high level enquiry on land acquisition including all allegations against Jagjit Singh.
The DC was unavailable for comments on this issue.
