Jalandhar, July 26
BSF constable Rajeev Ranjan, who allegedly stabbed his colleague in Jammu on July 24, today managed to give the police of two states and the BSF the slip.
The accused after noticing the movement of the forces escaped from the house located at Khurla Kingra where he was hiding since Sunday.
The operation was jointly conducted by the Jalandhar police, Jammu police and the BSF. The teams recovered the weapon and ammunition stolen by the accused.
The forces cordoned off the locality early this morning following a tip-off by the Jammu police. They raided a house and recovered one light machine cun (LMG), 250 cartridges and 10 magazines. The house occupants, Mukesh Chaudhary and Mithoon Chaudhary, were arrested.
Mukesh is working with an advocate, while Mithoon is employed at a marble shop in the city. A case under Sections 212 and 214 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act has been registered against them.
Police Commissioner Arpit Shukla said the police would probe whether the arrested persons intentionally gave shelter to the BSF jawan.
Meanwhile, the raid led to panic in the area. There were rumours of some terrorists hiding in the locality.
