Several builders owe Rs 38 crore to the Municipal Council (MC), Kharar, and did not make payment despite several reminders. This has resulted in a shortage of funds for various development works in the area.

The builders failed to make payment for projects sanctioned 2011 onwards. Even former Kharar MLA Jagmohan Singh Kang had raised the issue in September 2017.
