Canada’s Indian-origin Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan on Thursday paid obeisance at the Golden Temple here where he was presented with a robe of honour.
He reached the holy Sikh shrine shortly after 6 am and spent around 15 minutes inside its sanctum sanctorum.
Wearing a grey turban and a white shirt, Sajjan took a round of the complex and spent over an hour on its premises.
SGPC president Kripal Singh was also present when the minister reached the shrine.

There was a minor clash between SAD (A) members and SGPC task force when they tried to gain access to hand over a memorandum to Sajjan. Pro-Khalistan slogans were raised. Jarnail Singh Sakhira, general secretary of SAD (A), claimed that he had received bruises on his hand.

The Canadian defence minister had reached the holy city of Amritsar from New Delhi on Wednesday evening.
The minister will be in Chandigarh on Friday where he would inaugurate the new office of the Consulate-General of Canada. With PTI
