Captain’s govt being run by babus: Khaira

Claiming that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was the only democratic outfit in the country, newly appointed Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira today said Capt Amarinder Singh was running an undemocratic government where babus were calling the shots.

After chairing his first meeting with the party MLAs, Khaira said AAP was united in fighting the “most oppressive and corrupt” regime in the state.

Flanked by state party convener Bhagwant Mann, deputy convener Aman Arora and Lok Insaaf Party MLAs Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Bains, Khaira said AAP workers were prepared to expose both the Congress and the SAD-BJP.

“The CM has visited the state only once after taking over. He is relaxing either in the hills or in Chandigarh,” he said.

The government is being run by bureaucrats who, along with the CM’s advisers, are having a good time, Khaira said.

“Instead of fulfilling promises made to the farmers, they are hiking their own salaries and perks,” he alleged.

The AAP leader said Amarinder was running away from his promise of waiving loans of farmers, leading to more suicides in the state.

Addressing the media, Mann and Khaira accused Captain and Badals of helping each other. The AAP will continue to play the role of a constructive opposition, they said.

Meanwhile, the party will organise a blood donation camp at Sunam on July 27 to pay tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh. Later, they will pay obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and the historic temple at Maisarkhana.

A state-level conference will be organised on August 7 at Baba Bakala on the eve of Rakhar Punya and a conference will be held on August 15 at Issru village to remember Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru.

A meeting with volunteers to decide the course of action will be held under the supervision of Mann and Khaira.
