Amritsar Lok Sabha MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has said that he would seek suggestion from the Congress high command to table a resolution in Parliament to demand an apology for the 1984 riots. He said all top national leaders of the AICC had already offered an apology over the matter.

Manjit Singh Calcutta, former general secretary of the SAD and the SGPC, said: “No formal apology has been tendered in Parliament so far.”

He said even the Punjab Assembly had not described the riots as genocide.
