Chandigarh, March 12

Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira today claimed that Cabinet Minister Charanjit Singh Channi had invested money in illegal sand mining through his nephew.

Khaira alleged that the Malikpur quarry in Nawanshahr was allotted to Kudrat Deep Singh, the business partner and close associate of Channi’s nephew Bhupinder Singh alias Honey.

He claimed that Honey’s firm Punjab Realtors Co got contracts of sand mining. He showed photos of Honey and Kudrat Deep Singh with Congress ministers Channi, Tript Rajinder Bajwa and the CM. He asked the government to mark an inquiry by a sitting or retired HC judge.

Channi said his photos with a mining contractor were of public functions and dharnas where anyone could participate.
