Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Khaira today said the clean chit to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh in the Ludhiana City Centre scam proved that the Badals and the CM had an understanding between them.

“Capt Amarinder and the Badals have made a mockery of the police, investigating agencies and the judicial system,” the AAP leader said.

Khaira was in the city to meet AAP leader Amar Singh Sekhon and his brother in the DMCH. They were injured in an attack by Congress men yesterday.

Khaira was in the city to meet AAP leader Amar Singh Sekhon and his brother in the DMCH. They were injured in an attack by Congress men yesterday.

He appealed to the Punjab and Haryana High Court to take suo motu cognisance of the matter and shift the case outside Punjab because Capt Amarinder, being the Chief Minister, was heading the law machinery in the state.

Khaira also urged the Ludhiana court not to accept the closure report filed by the Vigilance Bureau.

“Before the 2007 Assembly elections, the SAD had made the scam a rallying point. As a result, the SAD-BJP government rode to power. After taking over, the Badals had put in all agencies to collect evidence on the scam and pursued the case,” he alleged.

The Leader of the Opposition added, “During the SAD-BJP government, the VB had last year filed a cancellation report in the Amritsar Improvement Trust case, in which Capt Amarinder was an accused.”

Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) MLA Simarjit Singh Bains said he would approach the HC with a petition to not accept VB’s closure report in the City Centre scam.

On the attack on AAP workers, he said: “If the city police fail to act, my party workers will sit on a dharna outside the DGP’s office.”
