CM to hand over job letters to 2,500 teachers

CHANDIGARH: Education Minister Om Parkash Soni on Tuesday said the problem of shortage of schoolteachers would be redressed soon as Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would hand over the appointment letters to 2,500 teachers during his visit to Amritsar on June 29.

Education Minister Om Parkash Soni on Tuesday said the problem of shortage of schoolteachers would be redressed soon as Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would hand over the appointment letters to 2,500 teachers during his visit to Amritsar on June 29.

The Education Minister said these teachers have been recruited in all subjects. He added that 75 per cent of these teachers would be deputed in border areas, while the rest 25 per cent would be assigned duty in urban areas.

He said Rs 100 crore funds had been allocated for the repair of school buildings in the state and classrooms would be constructed in much-needed schools.

Soni said under the Mission Tandarust Punjab, first class would be of sports in all government schools to enhance the mental and physical strength of the children. He added that computer, laptops and internet connectivity would be provided in all government schools to equip the children with modern technology.
