Chandigarh, December 15
The Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) and Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) during its meeting today expressed concern over delay in appointment of Vice-Chancellor of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG-PTU), Jalandhar.
“While the VC of the other government universities have been appointed, the technical university has been without a regular VC for the three years,” said Manjit Singh, Vice-President, PUTIA.
Since September last, the selection panel has shortlisted three persons from the list of eight for the Vice-Chancellor’s post — Ajay Sharma, Director, NIT, Delhi; Yogender Yadav, former Director, Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewal Energy, Kapurthala; and KK Raina, former Deputy Director, Thapar University, Patiala.
Sources said the appointment was being delayed as one of the candidates allegedly had the backing of an influential social organisation. — TNS
