Twenty one-year-old Satnam Singh of Raipur village (Majri) in Khamano block died of dengue last evening.
Deceased’s father Balraj Singh said Satnam was working in a mill at Mandi Gobindgarh and had fever since October 12. He was admitted to a private hospital in Khanna, but was discharged following some recovery. He said on October 22, he again had a high fever and was taken to the same hospital, but the doctors referred him to Apolo Hospital in Ludhiana, where he died last evening.
The health authorities do not have any information in this regard. Villagers claimed that even though a number of people had been suffering from dengue and chikungunya, the health authorities never bothered to take any preventive measure. Earlier, a resident of Ramdas Nagar village falling in Sirhind block had died of dengue.
