Atta-Dal not benefitting poor: Preneet

PATIALA: Patiala MLA Preneet Kaur, while reacting to a news report published today, said, “Our grievance about the arbitrary and discriminatory method used for the registration of beneficiaries for the revised Atta-Dal scheme in the state stands vindicated.

Patiala, April 22

Patiala MLA Preneet Kaur, while reacting to a news report published today, said, “Our grievance about the arbitrary and discriminatory method used for the registration of beneficiaries for the revised Atta-Dal scheme in the state stands vindicated.” The news report stated that 50 per cent of these beneficiaries were “bogus”. She said a large number of genuine and deserving people had not been registered under the scheme.

She recalled that in September 2014, a detailed memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister, through the Deputy Commissioner, Patiala, demanding that “the same analogy and criteria be used for the applicant families of Patiala district as have been used for the applicant families of Bathinda, Muktsar and Mansa districts and all of them be issued blue cards”. — TNS
