Govt bans stickers for pvt vehicles

In the wake of two terror attacks in the state, the police have banned the use of tags like ‘on govt duty’, ‘Army’, ‘Press’, ‘VIP’ or any other title on private vehicles that can allow a person easy entry into a vital installation.

ADGP (Security), Punjab, has issued a circular banning all those on a private vehicle. RTI activist Parvinder Singh Kittna had it brought to the notice of the police that many persons were getting undue influence by tagging such labels on their vehicles, which was against the Motor Vehicle Act also.

Police sources said the orders have come in addition to the ban on the open sale of Army “uniforms” in the state.

Two different groups of terrorists had sneaked into Dinanagar and Pathankot wearing Army “uniforms”.

Police sources said it was feared that the terrorists might use a vehicle flaunting VIP status to gain access to a vital installation.
