Chandigarh, March 23

Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today hailed the decision to open Regional Passport Office (RPO) extension facility for the people of Bathinda and Patiala as the Centre directed the Regional Passport Officer, Chandigarh, to immediately facilitate the acceptance of all documents, including passport applications, through Passport Seva Kendra in these cities.

Earlier, Gujarat and Karnataka were the only states to have such passport-related services.

She said she had been trying hard for this facility to the people of Patiala and Bathinda as these people had to face a lot of inconvenience in travelling to Chandigarh to fulfil even the most minor requirements for securing their passports.

For the moment, Post Master General will function as the facilitator for these services. But for the people, it will have all requisite facilities for filling and submission of applications and queries about their passports.
