Leopard found dead near pond

A leopard was found dead near a pond on the outskirts of Khurali village in the Bet area of Garshankar. He had some marks on his body as if caused by wires.

People saw the leopard lying on a rock near the pond this afternoon. Wildlife ranger Jaswinder Singh reached the spot with his team and took the leopard’s body in custody.

He said there were marks of wires on the body. He said, “People living in villages near the jungle generally lay nets to save their cattle. It seems that the leopard was caught in such a net and got injured. He must have escaped and come here to drink water but succumbed to his injuries. If anyone is found guilty of hurting the animal, he will be dealt as per law,” he said.
