Muktsar, February 21

The relatives of a 28-year-old man, who was found dead near Baba Khetarpal temple on the Kotkapura-Jalalabad bypass road yesterday, held a protest at Kotkapura Chowk today by placing his body on the road, demanding action against his in-laws. The deceased, Harnam Singh of Bhamba Colony, was a medical practitioner.

Gurmeet Singh, brother of the deceased, alleged that his brother’s wife Kajal and her family members had recently sold his house at a low price. “Harnam was, however, not in favour of selling his house. This is the reason behind my brother’s murder,” he alleged.

Meanwhile, Muktsar DSP Deepak Rai and Naib Tehsildar Jaswant Singh assured the protesters that action would be taken after the postmortem report. — TNS
