PM launches national SC/ST hub, ZED scheme in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: PM Narendra Modi launched the national SC/ST hub and the zero defect, zero effect on environment (ZED) scheme for the MSME sector here.

Ludhiana, October 18

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched the national SC/ST hub and the zero defect, zero effect on environment (ZED) scheme for the MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) sector here.

He also presented national awards to the MSMEs. The Prime Minister distributed charkhas to women and also tried his hand at a charkha. He also visited a khadi exhibition at Punjab Agricultural University and inaugurated a coir rath.

BJP functionaries presented a portrait of the PM to Modi.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal were present on the occasion. Badal thanked the PM for starting important schemes from the industrial city. He also congratulated Modi for the recent surgical strikes by the Army across the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

There was huge police deployment all over the city in wake of the high-profile visit.
