Swine flu toll rises to 4 in Ferozepur

FEROZEPUR:Four deaths due to swine flu in a few days have triggered panic in this border town and alarmed the health authorities.

Four deaths due to swine flu in a few days have triggered panic in this border town and alarmed the health authorities.

As per information, all the four patients were referred to various hospitals in Faridkot, Ludhiana and Chandi Mandir after they were tested positive, but they could not survive. 

The deceased have been identified as Usha Rani, Iqbal Singh and Jaswinder Kaur, besides an Army jawan who was reportedly referred to Command Hospital in Chandi Mandir some days ago. 

Dr Pradeep Chawla, Civil Surgeon, Ferozepur, confirmed that till date, four deaths due to swine flu have taken place in the district. 

“Besides these cases, no other patient has tested positive till now. We are taking all precautions,” Chawla said, adding that the officials of the Health Department were keeping an eye on the localities where the victims stayed. — OC
