Even as Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said there had been no demand of any compensation from Baljit Singh’s family, the latter was today seen raising the demand before political leaders who kept turning up ahead of the cremation.
The demand of an adequate ex-gratia and jobs for three children was placed by the family even before Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla, who gave them an assurance of his support for a timely aid.
The same demand was also raised before Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed and PPCC president Partap Bajwa. Both Ahmed and Bajwa said, “The CM should have made a clear-cut announcement for them and not leave them in lurch like that.”
Vice-Chairman of National SC Commission Raj Kumar Verka said, “The family confided with me that they wanted definite assurance from the Chief Minister.”
