Counselling for postgraduate medical seats from April 3

FARIDKOT: Amid the controversy over the government quota seats in two private medical colleges for postgraduate courses (MD, MS) in the state, the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) on Wednesday evening announced the schedule for conducting the physical counselling to make admission to about 420 MD and MS, 111 MDS and 55 diploma courses seats in seven medical and eight dental colleges in the state.

Amid the controversy over the government quota seats in two private medical colleges for postgraduate courses (MD, MS) in the state, the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) on Wednesday evening announced the schedule for conducting the physical counselling to make admission to about 420 MD and MS, 111 MDS and 55 diploma courses seats in seven medical and eight dental colleges in the state.

The counselling will be held from April 3 to 5.

The in-service candidates (PCMS/PCMS dental) will be given incentive of up to 30 per cent of total marks obtained by them in NEET-PG-2018 for admission to all these PG courses.

The university clarified that 50 per cent of the seats in three government colleges in the state would be filled by way of all-India seats quota where candidates from all over the country could apply. Rest 50 per cent of the seats were of the state quota and available to be filled by way of institutional preference from the students who had passed their qualifying exam from the BFUHS.

Besides BFUHS, the candidates who had passed their qualifying exams from other universities established by statutes of the State of Punjab and in the State of Punjab would also be eligible under this category. However, the institutional preference would first be given to a candidate of the respective university.
