The costly Porsche Cayenne GTS, worth Rs 1.42 crore, that was shifted from the Sangrur Nam Charcha Ghar (congregation centre) of Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa, on September 8 to Sangrur’s Sadar police station has been giving sleepless nights to the police. They say its the costliest vehicle ever parked under their jurisdiction. They are taking all required steps to prevent damage or theft of any costly part of the vehicle.

Last week, Honey Goyal from Sirsa had filed an application in the local court, claiming to be the owner of vehicle but the police have sought the original copy of documents.

“In my life, I have never seen such a costly vehicle in the police station before. Since all its parts are very costly and there are many visitors in the police station daily, we have to be extra vigilant,” said a policeman.

Sources said in March, a special cabin of aluminum grills was constructed in the main hall of the congregation centre where the yellow metallic Porsche vehicle (HR-24-T-0025) from Gurgaon was parked, on the Patiala road. After the centre authorities failed to show documents of the vehicle, the police took the Porsche and another tempo into their possession.

Some policemen said since the vehicle is parked in the open in the police station, many relatives of thieves and criminals, arrested by them in various cases, have seen it.

Moreover many Dera followers, who come to the police station in connection with other cases from surrounding villages , start paying “obeisance” to the vehicle. It also highlights its importance and price, attracting the attention of criminals. “Dera followers keep requesting that they want darshan of their Pitaji’s vehicle. It creates problems,” said a policeman.

The SHO of the police station, Devinder Singh, said, “Both its cost and religious sentiments attached with it are very high. Apart from protecting it from thieves, we have to be extra cautious to protect it from miscreants who want to disrupt peace by creating unnecessary religious controversies. We have sought the original documents from Honey and would hand over the car to him if he produces the documents in the court,” said the SHO.
