The Rural Development and Panchayat Department has announced to go in for all-round development of villages on the pattern of Haripur and Seechewal (Jalandhar) villages. Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa has directed senior officers of the department to tour both villages and observe their development model so as to replicate it in other villages.

Financial Commissioner, Rural Development and Panchayats, Anurag Verma said the department had prepared a proposal based on this model.

He said all Additional Deputy Commissioners (Development), Deputy Directors, District Development and Panchayat Officers (DDPOs) and Executive Engineers of the department had been instructed to visit both villages.

Verma stated that in the sewage treatment plant based on the Seechewal model, one well separated silt from the polluted water, while another segregated the oil content and floating garbage.
