DIG says cases to be withdrawn: Badal

MUKTSAR: A day after PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar maintained that the cases registered against SAD leaders on charges of attempt to murder charge, holding of ‘dharna’ and the disruption of traffic on the national highway won’t be withdrawn, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today claimed that the state government’s representative, a DIG, had announced publicly that these would be cancelled.

Muktsar, December 11

A day after PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar maintained that the cases registered against SAD leaders on charges of attempt to murder charge, holding of ‘dharna’ and the disruption of traffic on the national highway won’t be withdrawn, former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today claimed that the state government’s representative, a DIG, had announced publicly that these would be cancelled.

“The DIG had made a public announcement in this regard and he can’t lie. The DIG speaks to the DGP and the latter to the Chief Minister. They made an announcement after a discussion,” said Badal, who was in his Lambi Assembly segment today to visit houses of those who lost their family members recently.

Commenting further, Badal said, “Low-level officers like DSPs and SHOs usually manage postings through local leaders or MLAs, thus indulging into vendetta on their directions.”
