Amritsar, March 31

Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha and former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has warned against any political patronage to the culprits responsible for driving cable operator Jaswinder Singh Jassi to suicide.

Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, Capt Amarinder, in a statement issued here, said, "The culprits are connected with the ruling party and the victim has been harassed and persecuted to the extent that he ultimately decided to end his own life."

The former Chief Minister pointed out that while the functioning of the Fastway Cables, allegedly patronised by the government, was already under the scanner, “they had now started victimising the cable operators who they had earlier thrown out of business”.

Capt Amarinder warned that 2017 was not that far and once the Congress formed government, he would ensure that each and everyone involved was held accountable and brought to book. He asked the police to probe the matter without any fear or bias and ensure that the culprits were not only arrested but duly punished so that the victim got justice.
