Moga, December 7

The central leadership of the BJP will not be part of the SAD show of strength in Moga on Thursday.

It is learnt that the BJP is not interested in raking-up the inter-state water issues. Being in power in Haryana, the central BJP leadership does not want to invite any trouble keeping in view of the sensitivity of the matter.

BJP Moga president Tarlochan Singh Gill said he had no information about the central BJP leadership’s participation in the rally, which, according to him, was a show of strength of the Akali Dal. “Being a local leader of the BJP, I have also not been invited by the Akalis,” he said.

Anil Bansal, Senior Deputy Mayor of Moga, also said that there was no message from his party side to attend the Akali Dal’s rally so far. “Owing to my personal relations with local SAD leaders, I will attend the rally”, he added.

Party spokesman Vineet Joshi said state BJP president Vijay Sampla would attend the rally. But no national level leader was coming, he confirmed.

A visit to the rally site at Kili Chahal village revealed that the rally organisers have not erected hoardings of the BJP, clearly indicating that even the worker-level participation of the alliance partner is miniscule.
