Barnala, December 8

In a case of alleged “misappropriation of material”, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has placed under suspension deputy chief engineer, distribution circle, Barnala; additional superintending engineer (SE), sub-urban division, Barnala, and eight others with immediate effect.

They were suspended on account of “irregularities and negligence”, allegedly “committed” by them while performing their duties.

Sources in the PSPCL told The Tribune today that all the officers and employees had been suspended for alleged “misappropriation of material like transformers, conductors, poles and cables” for releasing tube well motor connections illegally.

These connections had been released by these officers and employees when there was a ban on the release of tube well motor connections.

The source said that these officers and employees procured the material from the store for some other works but used it for releasing tube well motor connections “illegally” in the Bhadaur area of the Barnala PSPCL circle. They said the number of such “illegal tube well connections” is around 200 that had been released in 2014 and 2015.

The names and designations of the officers and other employees who have been suspended are: HD Goyal, deputy chief engineer, distribution circle, PSPCL, Barnala; VP Goyal, additional SE, sub-urban division, Barnala; Sushil Kumar, additional assistant engineer (AAE), sub-division, Sehna; Manjit Singh, AAE, sub-division, Bhadaur; Sanjiv Kumar, AAE, outlet store, Barnala; Nirmal Singh, junior engineer (JE), sub-division, Sehna; Balbir Singh, JE, sub-urban sub-division, Barnala; Rajinder Kumar, divisional accountant, sub-urban sub-division, Barnala; Jarnail Singh, regular store mate, outlet store, Barnala, and Suba Singh, lineman, sub-division, Bhadaur.
