Chandigarh, December 15

Acting on the application of Moga SSP Raj Jit Singh, a division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court headed by Justice Surya Kant on Friday directed the Punjab government to form an SIT.

The SIT will comprise three IPS officers--Prabodh Kumar, director, bureau of investigation; Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, IGP (ATS); and Siddharth Chattopadhyay, DGP (HRD).

It will probe the role of SSP Raj Jit Singh in a drug case registered by the STF in Mohali.

The SIT will submit its first status report on the next date of hearing on January 31.

The Moga SSP, in his application, had expressed the apprehension that the ADGP STF chief could falsely implicate him in the drug case.
