The accused, identified as Jagdeep Singh, was arrested by DRI under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act after narcotics were found in his possesion, according to an official release issued by DRI (Ludhiana Zonal unit) on Wednesday.
"The heroin was found in a car, which was being used to transport the contraband, by the trafficker Jagdeep Singh," the release said.

As per the initial investigation, the heroin was smuggled from the Indo-Pakistan border, near Tarn Taran district, the release said.
DRI officials further informed that Jagdeep Singh had been arrested for smuggling 13 kg of heroin in an earlier case in 2009 and had jumped parole and had been declared as proclaimed offender after that.
