Faridkot, November 11
The Faridkot police today booked seven jail inmates, including Lakha Sidana, a gangster-turned-social worker, for using mobile phone on the jail premises.
Sidana is lodged in the Faridkot central jail for defacing road signboards in the Bathinda area.
After Sidana allegedly broadcasted his speech live on Facebook from the jail barrack yesterday evening, justifying stubble-burning and blackening of the signboards, the jail authorities conducted a search and recovered two mobile phones from the barrack where Sidana and six other inmates have been lodged.
On the basis of the recovery of these phones, the Faridkot police today registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 42 of the Prisons Act against Lakhbir Singh, alias Lakha Sidana, Rajinder Singh, Beant Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Amarjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Ravinder Singh.
