Kashmiri youths ‘detained’ at Attari

AMRITSAR: Five Kashmiri youths were allegedly detained at Attari by the BSF and the immigration authorities recently.

Amritsar, May 16

Five Kashmiri youths were allegedly detained at Attari by the BSF and the immigration authorities recently. Three of them were sent back to Jammu and Kashmir after preliminary interrogation.

Though the BSF and immigration authorities have denied it, sources in the BSF intelligence and Police Department confirmed the incident.

They claimed that three Kashmiri youths were held on May 8, while two were detained on May 9. They were later handed over to the Gharinda police. Those held on May 8 were let off after preliminary interrogation.

It has been alleged that these youth, under the influence of Pakistan-based hardliners, were going to the neighbouring country on valid documents on the pretext of pursuing education. — TNS
