Ludhiana man arrested with 11 kg of poppy in J&K’s Poonch

A man has been arrested on charges of drug possession and 11 kg of poppy was seized from his truck in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, the police said on Tuesday.

The seizure was made during a checking drive on Mughal Road in Poonch’s Behramgalla area, a police officer said, adding that 17 bags containing around 11 kg of poppy were found in the accused’s truck.

On questioning, he claimed his name was Karanjeet Singh and he was from Ludhiana in Punjab, the officer said.

A case had been registered against him at the Surankote police station, he said.

The police are investigating the matter. PTI
