Punjab Information and Public Relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia today flagged off 50 hi-tech LED vans at the Sports Stadium in Sector 78 here. These vans will go to various parts of the state to spread awareness about government schemes and how people could benefit from these.

Majithia said the aim was to highlight the achievements of the government from making the state power surplus to the creation of record road infrastructure as well as to create awareness about various social welfare schemes so that the maximum number of deserving people could be brought within their ambit.

Majithia said these 50 vans, which were equipped with a modern LED unit each, would hold programmes in the state in the next few days and disseminate information about government schemes as well as achievements.

He said a positive message about Punjab and Punjabiat would be conveyed. A film, "Chaar Sahibzada," would also be shown.

The minister said an inbuilt GPS system with the latest vehicle tracking equipment and surveillance cameras had been installed in these vehicles to help his department monitor vehicle movement and the public response.

The minister said the government would showcase the development done in the past nine years as well as socio-economic change brought about through a large number of welfare schemes.

Majithia said while making the state power

surplus, Punjab had created the second highest road network in the country. The government, besides bringing in record development, had facilitated the people through social welfare schemes, including the Shagun scheme, health insurance scheme for farmers and Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Scheme.
