Moga, July 27

A man has been allegedly murdered with sharp-edged weapons over a property dispute by his younger brother at Kot Sadar Khan village in the Dharamkot subdivision of Moga district, the police said today.

The victim identified as Lakhwinder Singh was allegedly attacked with a dagger by his younger brother Devinder Singh, who was in an inebriated condition.

Their father, Jagtar Singh, who is a patient of depression, had distributed the property among both of sons with the help of the village panchayat 10 days ago. However, Devinder was not satisfied over the division of property.

On Tuesday night, Devinder quarreled with his father over this issue. His father lived with him in his house, while his brother was living separately.

Noticing that his younger son was furious, Jagtar went to Lakhwinder’s house to sleep.

Devinder went to his brother’s house carrying a dagger to kill his father. Lakhwinder scuffled with his young brother to save his father’s life. In the scuffle, Devinder attacked his brother Lakhwinder, who sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot. A murder case has been registered against Devinder, but he was yet to be arrested. — TNS
