Missing youth’s body found

Fazilka: The decomposed body of a 23-year-old youth, Nabi Phutela, who went missing on April 24, has been recovered from the banks of seepage drain between Ladhuka and Kirianwali villages. Nabi’s cousin Ajay Bhateja and his accomplice Babbu have been booked for murder. The police said Nabi and Ajay had gone somewhere two days ago, but Nabi did not return. Jagdish Chander, father of the deceased, told the police that he had stood as guarantor for his nephew Ajay in the court in a murder case which he was thinking of withdrawing. This irked Ajay and he allegedly committed the crime. oc

Fire damages wheat straw, cotton seed

Abohar: Wheat straw spread on four acres got damaged due to fire at a farm owned by city Congress committee president Sudhir Nagpal. His farm workers called the fire tenders and the flames were doused in half an hour. Another fire incident was reported at Sumit Industries on the Abohar-Fazilka road, where cotton seed stacks and machinery got damaged. oc

Wheat stubble gutted

Muktsar: Wheat stubble on 18 acres in Goneana village and nearly seven acres in Malout village was destroyed in two fire incidents on Thursday. The firemen doused the flames. Though the exact cause of the fire was unknown, the farmers claimed it occurred due to short-circuit. tns
