Former PCC chief Navjot Sidhu, who has been touring length and breadth of the state, today stayed away from the feedback event held by the Congress political affairs in-charge Devendra Yadav ahead of the Lok Sabha poll.

No ticket for Preneet: Warring

  • PCC chief said the party had already suspended Patiala MP Preneet Kaur for anti-party activities and she would not be considered for the party ticket
  • “Action has already been taken against her. Any further decision about her being in the party will be taken by the high command,” he said

Accompanied by Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and senior leaders, Yadav said such events were being held to get direct feedback from workers in every constituency.

“We are open to discuss all details with block presidents, workers and local leaders ahead of announcing tickets,” Yadav said, adding that the party needs to put up a united face.

Speaking on recent outbursts of Sidhu at public rallies and his absence from such an important event, Warring said he couldn’t comment on it. “All I can say is that there is no place in the party for anyone who creates indiscipline,” he said. “All the Congress leaders have to abide by regulations of the party. Be it me, Sidhu or anyone. There is no space for personal opinions to be made public,” he said, without naming any leader.

Sources said Sidhu wasn’t invited to the meeting, which was attended by senior leaders. “Sidhu is blowing his trumpet by holding parallel shows. Thus, there was no point asking him to attend the meeting,” said a top Congress leader.
