Jagtar Singh (47) from Janal village, who has been struggling to get his Aadhar card, today got calls from the UIDAI and other authorities after The Tribune highlighted his plight.

“I got calls from UIDAI officials from Jalandhar and Chandigarh, while some officers from Sangrur came to meet me. I showed them my documents and requested them to help me as I have been facing problems without Aadhaar. They assured me that they would look into the matter,” said Jagtar.

Harjinder Singh, an employee of a private company which carries out UIDAI work in the district, said they had sent Jagtar’s documents to Chandigarh office and hopefully, he would get his Aadhaar soon.

Jagtar has reportedly been running from pillar to post since 2011 to get his Aadhaar card made. He has applied nine times at various places. Banks are now threatening to freeze his accounts and he could lose the gas cylinder subsidy. The LIC has also refused to release his policy amount without the Aadhaar card.
