Amritsar, March 22

With his appearance in popular TV comedy show coming under the scanner, Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today alleged he could never be a transporter like SAD president Sukhbir Badal who ruined the state roadways to flourish his own business.

He emphasised that the issue was being raked up by the Opposition whereas the TV show was his livelihood. “I don’t do business like Sukhbir. I can’t empty the state’s coffers to fill mine. The TV show is my only income source and being a non-government entity, it doesn’t defy the office of profit clause,” he said.

Attacking those questioning his professional career, the Amritsar East MLA said when the people who voted him and his wife umpteen times had no objection, why were they raising such hue and cry?

Justifying that his professional commitments would not hinder his duties towards the state, he said: “I have already gave up around 75 per cent of the TV programmes like IPL, commentary and endorsements. For the particular TV show, I have to spare just four days in a month for shooting, that too after the office hours,” he said.
