With Soma-Isolux failing to complete the six-lanning of the Jalandhar-Panipat National Highway even after starting the work 10 years ago, the NHAI has slapped a notice to the firm seeking final date for the completion of the project, said PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Wednesday.
The action has come after the state government took up the issue with the Union Surface Ministry and the NHAI at a recent meeting between Singla and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
“We have conveyed resentment against Soma for not completing the road in 10 years. They have been citing one pretext or the other. Last month, when I took up the matter with NHAI chairman Yudhvir Malik, he immediately ordered issuance of notice to the company,” said Singla.
Soma-Isolux NH1 Tollway Pvt Ltd was awarded the contract for the six-laning of the 281-km road and an agreement for the Rs 4,500-crore project was signed in 2008 on design-build-finance-operate basis.
