The Malout city police today booked SGPC member and SAD’s Muktsar district chief Dyal Singh Kolianwali, his son Parminder Singh, nephew Pardeep and two other Akalis for an alleged attempt to murder Gurmeet Singh, an aide of PPCC secretary Shubhdeep Singh Bittu, on Sunday night.

The FIR comes a day after four Congressmen — Shubhdeep, his uncle Bakshish Singh Sidhu, cousins Manpreet Singh ‘Manna’ and Dhanjit Singh ‘Dhanna’ — and nine unidentified persons were booked for an alleged bid to kill Parminder in Malout town on the same night.

Gurmeet, who allegedly suffered a bullet injury in the foot, was admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot. He told the police that Parminder rammed a car into his scooter, which he was riding along with Sonu, then opened fire and hit them with rods and sticks. Sonu was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Malout.

A case has been registered under Sections 307, 323, 506, 427, 148, 149, 120-B of the IPC and 25, 27 of the Arms Act against the father-son duo and the others, including Navjinder Singh and Hardeep Singh alias Deepa.

Inspector Boota Singh, SHO, Malout city police station, said, “The complainant alleged that Dyal Singh hatched a conspiracy to kill him and Sonu and the others attacked them.” No arrest has been made so far.
