Amritsar, January 30
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president said on Monday that Punjab’s location next to Pakistan made it a state that required a government that could ensure security and communal harmony, both of which “only the SAD-BJP alliance could ensure”.
Addressing rally in Amritsar, Shah said: “Punjab, which goes to polls on February 4, is the most important state for the country because it shares its border with Pakistan. Only a government like SAD-BJP can ensure national security. Internally, it also requires communal harmony. Congress is responsible for disturbing communal harmony in Punjab while AAP’s convener (Arvind Kejriwal) has made loads of promises he could never justify”.
He also derided Kejriwal and Congress’ chief ministerial candidate Amarinder Singh as never being in their home constituencies.
“Delhi residents are using binoculars to look for Kejriwal, their chief minister. Amarinder overlooked Amritsar’s interest as a Parliamentarian. And both aspire to become chief minister of Punjab. In fact, Kejriwal wants to be the CM of Goa too,” he said. Mocking Singh, he said: “What kind of ‘captain’ is he who takes orders from Rahul baba (Gandhi)”.
He accused the Congress of “propagating terrorism and disturbing peace” in the state and India was moving towards being a “Congress-free” country.
He said the Aam Aadmi Party were “a bundle of lies”, while calling Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal the face of Punjab.
“In whole country, Punjab’s identity is through Badal Saheb and his immense contribution to the state cannot be ignored,” he said.
