Faridkot, May 30

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) today changed the date of Punjab Medical Entrance Test (PMET).

The test will be held on June 11 instead of June 12 as announced earlier.

The reason for rescheduling the online examination date is the inadequate availability of computers on June 12.

Over 16,000 students have applied for the PMET for about 2,100 MBBS and BDS seats in seven medical and 14 dental colleges in the state. For the first time, BFUHS Faridkot is conducting the PMET online.

As the service providing company for this online test was facing problems in arranging over 16,000 computers on June 12, the examination date has been rescheduled, said Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice-Chancellor, BFUHS.

The result of the exam will be declared 48 hours after the test. During these 48 hours, every candidate has the right to raise any doubt about the questions in the exam and the result will be declared after addressing all these doubts.

The answer key of the exam will be uploaded immediately after the test, said the Vice-Chancellor.

Last year, BFUHS had faced prolonged litigation in the High Court after some candidates raised doubts about the correctness of some questions in PMET-2015.

Earlier, PMET was scheduled to be held on May 15, but after the Supreme Court gave a decision that states cannot hold separate examination for medical courses, BFUHS cancelled this test on April 30.

But after the Union Cabinet approved bringing of an ordinance to bypass the Supreme Court order and defer the implementation of SC’s order by a year, the medical university announced to conduct PMET on June 12.
