The local police continue to be absolutely clueless about the whereabouts of Guru Nanak Dev University’s lecturer Sukhpreet Kaur Brar. With prime suspect Garry’s “suicide” in south Maharashtra, the case has got murkier.

The search on the route traced by the mobile phone locations has failed to yield any results so far.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigations) Jagmohan Singh said the police have not been able to locate the victim or her body.

Sukhpreet had gone away with prime suspect Jazzinder alias Garry Virk of Kharar from outside a restaurant located at GND University market.

Though she had left a note — suspecting some “mischief” — at her faculty hostel room on the campus, the incident came to light four days after her disappearance when family members and university authorities approached the police.

The police hoped to crack the case after Garry’s arrest. But his “suicide” has left many questions unanswered. Why did she go with Garry if she was suspecting some foul play?

The police were also suspecting that he might have killed Sukhpreet and dumped her body somewhere between Subhanpur and Ropar areas.

“One thing is clear that she went willingly with the accused. What happened between the two is known only to them. Now, with Garry’s suicide, we don’t have any further clues. We are continuing with our search for her or her body,” said the DCP.
