CHANDIGARH/ROPAR: At least 260 candidates filed their nominations today. A total of 311 candidates have filed their papers since the date of notification of elections on January 11.

At least 260 candidates filed their nominations today. A total of 311 candidates have filed their papers since the date of notification of elections on January 11. Today, 27 candidates filed nominations in Patiala district, 25 in Amritsar, 23 (Hoshiarpur), 22 each in Ludhiana and Jalandhar, 17 in Bathinda and 16 in Tarn Taran district. In Ropar district, nine candidates, including senior party leaders from the Congress and SAD. Besides, CLP leader and MLA Charanjit

Singh Channi, SAD and AAP candidates Justice Nirmal Singh (retd) and Dr Charanjit Singh, respectively, filed their nominations at Chamkaur Sahib. Paramjit Kaur Gulshan filed papers as the covering candidate of her husband Nirmal Singh, while Gurinder Pal Singh filed papers as covering candidate of Dr Charanjit Singh.

At Ropar, SAD candidate Daljit Singh Cheema filed his papers along with his wife Harvinder Kaur, who filed as covering candidate for her husband. At Anandpur Sahib, AAP candidate Sanjiv Gautam filed three sets of nomination papers. Independent Nutan Kumar also filed the papers.
