Deepinder Singh Dhillon, Congress candidate from Dera Bassi, said there was no SAD-BJP wave in the constituency rather it was anti-incumbency against the ruling alliance. At a press conference here, Dhillon said even people in Zirakpur would reject ruling alliance candidate NK Sharma where he had his base. Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), he said it stood exposed in the wake of allegations of bribery and had no base in the state.

Dhillon said it was not only the public, the top bosses in the SAD-BJP alliance also failed to meet expectation of their workers.

"People of Punjab are fed up with non-governance, corruption and the mafia culture prevailing in the state and want a change in the political set-up," the Congress leader said.

On the revolt within the Congress against the allocation of party ticket to him, Dhillon said, "It was the decision of the party high command. Talks are on to pacify the opponents and I am sure that all will support the party decision."

On the occasion, Bhoom Singh Rana, state general secretary of the legal cell of AAP, along with other party workers, extended support to Dhillon.

Welcoming them into the party fold, Dhillon said soon Dera Bassi would be made a "AAP-free" town as a number of other party leaders were in touch with the Congress. He added that days of the SAD-BJP alliance were numbered.
