Congress Legislature Party chief Charanjit Singh Channi today welcomed the handing over of the investigation in the case of assault on RSS leader Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja to the CBI. He said, however, the decision had portrayed the failure of the state investigative agencies under the command of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Sukhbir should own up his miserable failure as the home minister and quit, he said.

“This is the third major case in Punjab in which the state investigative agencies have failed to nab the culprits. The first one was the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib that triggered a series of such actions. The second case was the assassination of Mata Chand Kaur, 80, at Bhaini Sahib. The state government agencies have failed in all three. It is Sukhbir Singh Badal who stands disgraced as the Home Minister,” Channi added.
