Dismissing the diatribe of Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal over the Congress’ farm debt-waiver promise as a sign of “sheer frustration”, PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh today once again vowed to settle all loans of the state’s farmers on a priority after coming to power. He said he would even recover the money looted from the people in the past 10 years of Akali misrule and utilise it for loan settlement.
Amarinder accused Sukhbir of trying to mislead the people on the matter by spreading “misinformation”. “The state government simply needs to take over the loans of the farmers and settle the accounts by arranging funds,” he said.
Amarinder said the spate of inaugurations and Bills being sought to be hastily passed by the Akali government, which has even called a special Assembly election on Monday for the same, were not helping the Badals attract voters, “who are completely disillusioned by their policies and actions of the past 10 years”.
