Poor result:2 girls consume poison

ROPAR: Two girl students of Government Senior Secondary School at Ghanauli allegedly consumed a poisonous substance after getting poor results in Class 10 examinations, near Ropar today.

Two girl students of Government Senior Secondary School at Ghanauli allegedly consumed a poisonous substance after getting poor results in Class 10 examinations, near Ropar today. The Punjab School Education Board had declared the results on Monday.

While one of the girls, identified as Mehakpreet of the Nuhon Colony died, the other student, Rajni of Lohgarh Phidde village, has been admitted in a hospital in a serious condition. Ghanauli police post incharge Gurmukh Singh said Mehakpreet had to re-appear in an examination in Class 10. She had not been well for the last two days and on Tuesday afternoon, her condition started deteriorating. She was taken to the PGI in Chandigarh where she died at night, he said. As the girl did not talk about anything to her parents, the exact cause of death of girl would be known after a post-mortem examination.

He said Rajni too was admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh, due to her serious condition. She did not pass in the examinations. As she did not disclose why her condition deteriorated, nothing could be said, said the police. — TNS
