Prof Solanki sworn in as state Governor, UTAdministrator

CHANDIGARH: Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana, was today sworn in as Governor of Punjab, in addition to his own duties.

Chandigarh, January 22

Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana, was today sworn in as Governor of Punjab, in addition to his own duties. Acting Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Shiavax Jal Vazifdar administered the oath of office to Prof Solanki at the Punjab Raj Bhavan.

Prof Solanki took the oath in Hindi. He signed the oath form that was counter-signed by the Chief Justice. Prof Solanki then signed separate charge reports, both as Punjab Governor and Union Territory Administrator.

Earlier, the Governor designate arrived at the special pandal of the Raj Bhavan in a ceremonial procession. He was accompanied by the Chief Justice.

Sarvesh Kaushal, Chief Secretary, Punjab, after seeking permission to start the ceremony, read out the warrants of appointment of Prof Solanki as the Punjab Governor.

After the ceremony, the Governor in a procession proceeded towards the saluting base. The Governor ascended the saluting base and took the salute from the full contingent of the PAP. A Punjab Police band played the National Anthem. The Governor then inspected the Guard of Honour.

The Governor was congratulated by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Member of Parliament Kirron Kher, Adviser to the Administrator Vijay Kumar Dev, high court judges and other dignitaries from Punjab and Haryana.
