Muktsar: Some young Congress workers in Muktsar district have questioned the anti-drug drive launched by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Facebook. Mincing no words, the youngsters said they had always accused the Akalis of doing nothing to eradicate the drug menace, but now it seemed that the Congress too was not keen on shouldering the responsibility. The post was, however, deleted later.

It’s friends first for Gidderbaha MLA

Muktsar: Even though Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh ‘Raja Warring’ could not get a Cabinet berth and was also replaced by UP’s Keshav Chand Yadav as the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) chief, he has  managed to grab some good posts for his close friends. To tide over the water crisis, Deputy Commissioner Kanwalpreet Brar has initiated a project worth Rs 13.30 lakh at Garolian village under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) and “Tandarust Punjab” mission to store rainwater. Two tanks having the capacity to store 90 lakh litres of water will facilitate irrigation. The recent rain has filled two-third of the tanks. As many as 2,000 saplings will be planted around ponds. Sports officer shifted over wrong reply

Amritsar: Cabinet Minister OP Soni was at the Guru Nanak Stadium to review the preparations for a state-level function scheduled for June 29 when he asked about the width of the ground. Not wasting a minute, District Sports Officer Gurlal Singh Riar replied 100 ft. When the minister asked the same question again, the officer started measuring the width with his feet. No wonder, the latter was transferred.

No asana, only photo op on Yoga Day
