Harsimrandeep Singh, alias Sema, an A-category gangster from Faridkot’s Behbal Kalan village, who had police looking for him for his suspected involvement in the murder of industrialist Ravinder Kocchar in Jaito town in July last, was arrested after police were tipped off about his presence in Dehradun.

Besides his suspected role in the industrialist’s murder, Singh faces other criminal charges—including double murder in Moga and extortion—and was declared a proclaimed offender two years ago.

He was the only one in the Ranjit Singh-Gurbax Singh Sevewala gang who remained at large.

Singh faces murder and conspiracy charges, as well as criminal cases under the Arms Act, in the Jaito murder case.

Inspector General (Bathinda range) Mukhwinder Singh Chhina said he would be brought to Punjab for questioning.
